4D Ultrasound - More Like, Baby's Being Sneaky!

Well well well, we were so excited about our 4D ultrasound only to find that little Lucas is already head down with his face squished up against the front of my pelvis! I cannot complain - he is in position for delivery and as low as he was, I would be surprised if that changed between now and February! We were able to catch him squirming a little on the ultrasound, but it was so early for him (he usually doesn't start kicking and jabbing me until around 11 in the morning and it was only 8AM when we did the ultrasound). If he stays on that schedule, we'll be in good shape (wishful thinking, huh?!) But for about 1 second we hit it just right and got a glimpse of his cute little face! We also got a leg and foot and a hand, but he is going to wait and surprise us all in February with his handsome face! We love you, Lucas and cannot wait to smooch those little lips!!

Face : )

Hands : ) Because of the imaging, they look a little morphed but something is better than nothing!

His little leg and what appears to be my supple umbilical cord!
He's getting a good supply through that thing I'm sure!

And that's all you get! (For the next 9 weeks, at least!)

Lower Extremity Swelling and Christmas Trees...What a Strange Combination!

Who would of thought that I could make a post to address both my pregnancy-induced edema (a not-so-fun topic!) and also show you our Christmas decorations for the year! Haha! In efforts of saving time, I just wanted to document that I have officially begun my first experience with lower extremity edema! Yay! Now I know how all of my congestive heart failure patients feel! For all you non-healthcare readers, just ignore that comment! But, Dee has a solution for everything. And for this, he has recommended him ordering me compression stockings. Now, I have not mentioned how he has already ordered me a maternity support brace for my back and stomach. I told him between the compression stockings, back brace, and support bras, I feel as if my body is falling apart, and not to mention, I can't really move with all of that paraphernalia!! I told him thank you, but I will hold off on the "stockings" at this time, and will try propping my legs up in the afternoons instead!

On a much lighter note, here are some pictures of our Christmas decorations! As I mentioned before, we got our first live tree and I love coming home to the smell of it! Now the real question is who is going to be taking these decorations down?? Because after the holidays, I will have around 4-5 weeks left of pregnancy, and I don't anticipate having the desire to do a whole lot other than "nest" and sleep while I can! We will see how it turns out!!

10 Weeks Left!!

As of Friday, November 30th, we officially have reached our 30th week and are only 10 short weeks away from baby's due date!! This week holds a special spot because on Thursday, December 6th, we get to have our 4D ultrasound performed at Greenville OBGYN! If you already love Lucas as much as we do (and we know you all do!) then you will enjoy the pictures from the ultrasound just as much as we will!
The reason this is so special to us is because it will be our first glimpse into what Lucas will look like! If we are lucky with him being positioned just right, we will get to see facial features. I have thought for 30 weeks - well, let's be honest, I thought about him before he was even conceived! - about his eyes, fingers, nose, and toes, and cannot wait to get an idea of what our little one will look like (and I'm officially now tearing up just thinking about it.) Hormones. Ugh!
This little boy already holds such a huge piece of my heart in his not-even-fully-developed hands. He is going to be special in so many people's eyes, and it will be a joy to share his sweetness with all of our family and friends. I have already learned so much just by being pregnant with him. I can say that I feel Dee and I are truly prepared. We may not make every decision correctly. We will make mistakes and will do things differently than the next parents. But I know one thing, everything we will do will be with our baby's best interest in the forefront of our mind, and that will never change.
I know I talk a lot about ME!, but this pregnancy would not have been as perfect as it has been without Dee by my side. He has listened to me complain, cry, and laugh, and has watched me get confused, turn around into walls, and run around sometimes like a chicken with my head cut off. He doesn't ask questions and he doesn't make me feel crazy (even though at times I'm sure he thinks I am!) He knows exactly what to say and has remained the rock that I can lean on when I feel like I am falling apart. I cannot wait for Lucas to learn from him, and having a little version of Dee around the house will be easy for me to enjoy : )
We look forward to sharing pictures with you in the week to come!

30 down, 10 to go!
